FAA Announces ADS-B Rebates Will Be Deducted From Stimulus Checks

WASHINGTON, DC – The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has announced that aircraft owners who received an ADS-B rebate prior to December 31, 2019 will have their 2020 stimulus checks reduced by $500. “Furthermore, if you aren’t eligible for a stimulus check due to income levels you will receive a bill for $500,” said George Orwelstein, Director of surveillance programs at the FAA.

Among the many provisions snuck into the $2 Trillion Coronavirus Stimulus Bill that was signed into law on March 27, 2020, was a clawback of funds that benefited seemingly wealthy aircraft owners in a hurry to have their every move tracked by the government.

This is a developing story and will be updated as aircraft owner and pilot reaction becomes available.
